LAND AND OF THE LEGENDARY (8 Days)

This tour takes you to the land of the legendary warrior queen Rani Jhansi who led the first uprising against the British rule.

 
  DAY 1  
 

Arrive Delhi. On arrival will be met at the airport by our representative who will accompany you to your hotel. In the afternoon a fter a short break we embark on our first journey to discover India. Our introduction to India will be by a " Rickshaw" a mode of transport used in small towns and in Old Delhi.

 
  DAY 2  
 

We take the early morning superfast train Shatabadi for Jhansi, arriving Jhansi at 10.30 hrs. Visit the Jhansi fort & Rani Mahal built by Bundela king Raja Bir. The fort has a museum depicting artefacts of Bundeal history. Drive to Orcha the capital of the Bundela kings on the bank of the river Betwa. Madhukar Shah II, the present chief of the Bundelas, welcomes you to Hotel Bundelkhand on the banks of the Betwa River.

 
  DAY 3  
 

Drive to Gwalior on way stopping at Datia palace the inspiration of Luteyan the builder of Delhi. Sonagiri the temple hill with 108 temples of Jain community built over 1500 years. Evening arrive Gwalior overnight at palce hotel.

 
  DAY 4  
 

Visit the the fort made of sandstone different from the forts of Rajasthan. Other monuments being the Gujari Mahal built for the gujjar queen. Inside it is the museum with artefacts of 1 st century antiquities. Scindia Palace of the Maratha rulers, tomb of Tansen, Ghaus Mohameds tombs the Jai vilas Palace and museum. Overnight at hotel.

 
  DAY 5  
 

Drive to Agra 119 km check into hotel. A fter a short break leave for the Agra Fort the fort where Emperor Shajahan the builder of Taj was held captive by his son Emperor Aurangzeb who usurped the throne. One can see the magnificant Taj from the quarters in which the emperor was jailed. Before sunset visit the Taj a monument of Love and romance. Overnight at Hotel.

 
  DAY 6  
 

We leave for Jaipur the pink city of the Kachawa dynasty enroute stopping at the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri built by Emperor Akbar as thanks giving for the saint who blessed him with a son and made it his capital in 1571, but had to abandon it 15 years later when the wells went dry. Evening check in at the hotel in Jaipur.

 
  DAY 7  
 

A tour of the city palace, the palace of winds and then proceed to Amber fort the ancient capital of Jaipur built in the 16 th century by Raja Man Singh in red sandstone and marble. It has some very intersting apartments like the Sheesh Mahal the glass canopy apartments and Jai Mandir, Sukh Niwas Baodi etc. The highlight of this trip is the elephant ride up the ramparts of the fort just like the maharajas did. After this we visit the Jaigarh fort the armoury of the erstwhile state which houses the biggest cannon on wheels in the world. Overnight at hotel.

 
  DAY 8  
 

Morning free for leisure. Later drive to delhi and transfer to the international airport for your flight to onward destination.
